Daytona, FL – November 12, 2015  –   2015 will go down in history as a record breaking year for the Trans Am Championship Series. With the season’s climactic finale happening this weekend at Daytona International Speedway in Florida where the Bullet Liner Championship is the feature event. This is the third year in a row the Trans Am finale has been held at Daytona and it promises to be yet another weekend of highly competitive racing in America’s favorite sports car series. New champions will be crowned as an outstanding year of Trans Am and Historic sports car racing draws to a close.

Burtin Racing has entered two strong contenders. The No. 7 Bullet Liner Corvette which will contest in the popular TA Class and adding an exciting entry to the grid, the Porsche 997 GT3 which will compete in TA3i. The headlining Trans Am event is paired with the HSR Classic 24 Hour at Daytona International Speedway and is presented by IMSA.

Last fall the No. 7 Corvette C7.R made a successful debut for the Burtin Racing team in the Trans Am Series when Claudio Burtin drove to an impressive fourth place finish at Daytona.  Although very exciting, this was no surprise given Burtin’s experience and racing history at the famed Daytona International Speedway. He is widely known for competing in Porsche GT race cars at the Rolex 24 Hour sanctioned events.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming finale and we have been preparing by doing a lot of development on the car and testing,” said Claudio Burtin, team principal and driver. “The Corvette C7.R body is more slippery than the C6. We did back-to-back tests and need to thank Tony Ave Racing for loaning us his car. We discovered there is about 6% less down force on the front with the C7. It should make for a fast car at Daytona but it needs more down-force to be competitive with the C6.”

Burtin Racing has also entered longtime team analyst and rapid pilot Martin Ragginger to drive the Porsche 997 GT3. Both the car and driver will be making their SCCA Trans Am debut in the TA3i class at the Bullet Liner Championship Weekend. The Austrian Ragginger is a Porsche Factory driver, and competes at very high levels on the international sports car circuits in Asia and Europe.

In a year of record numbers, this weekend sets a new high in participants at Daytona for the Trans Am Series with a colossal 69 entries for the competition this Saturday, November 14. This is a clear demonstration of the commercial success, ongoing popularity, and tremendous viability of the series. The 29-lap race is scheduled for 103.24-miles or 77 minutes and will go green at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Burtin Racing cars are expected to be among the front runners for the Bullet Liner Championship Weekend.

This final round of the 2015 Trans Am Championship will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
