Homestead, FL – October 13, 2016 – The Trans Am Series Championship rolled through a hurricane threatened Homestead-Miami this weekend with Round 9 set in their sights. As teams and race fans were eager for an action-packed weekend of racing, the venue respectively took necessary safety precautions, including a cancellation of all track activity on Friday. Practice sessions got underway Saturday morning and followed by the afternoon “One Shot” qualification session.
Burtin Racing and the No. 7 GoShare Corvette C7.R placed eighth on the Trans Am starting grid for Sunday’s race. The weather scorched to over 90 degrees and proved humid for all in attendance. The weather advisories stayed clear and racing action was underway.
The team was very pleased starting out the weekend with a quick racecar and competitive speed in the GoShare Corvette. The car setup and development continues to improve with each competition and this race was no different. Homestead allowed the team to gather more data for even further refinement of the racecar’s settings.
This weekend’s Homestead race was not only highly competitive but showcased intense on-track action. The teams had their work cut out for them as they battled the heat and humidity. With all this in play when the dust settled the No. 7 GoShare Corvette finished eleventh in the main event.
“We had a great car that could have found us the podium here at Homestead,” stated Claudio Burtin, team owner and driver. “It was close racing and at one point I had to make the choice to avoid contact with Paul Fix and that lost us some pace. A few laps later we flat spotted the tires from another near mishap and we decided to pit. My team did a great job of staying on point all weekend and in all weather conditions.”
